The BSR is a popular science journal intended for the non-expert, but intellectually motivated reader. Think Scientific American or the New York Times science section with a focus on Berkeley.

We encourage graduate students, post-graduate fellows, and undergrads in the sciences, social sciences and humanities to submit. We’re looking for a variety of article styles and lengths, from ten-page features to 2-paragraph blurbs, as well as science related artwork. The BSR is broadly interdisciplinary, so anything goes, from RNA polymerase to history of science. What we demand is meticulously researched and well-written stories with writing that’s purposeful and crisp. Every word should work towards telling your reader a lively story.

Below are the types of articles and artwork we’re looking for as well as submission guidelines. with your submissions, proposals, and questions. Guidelines are negotiable and we’re always open to good ideas. If you have a great story that doesn’t seem to fit in here, email us a short proposal.
